Online Marketing is changing, we no longer need basic dull static internet sites for business. We need to do much more than that to reach out to the customers.  Not long ago websites sole purpose was to provide information to your prospective customers. It is basically one way communication where you are talking and your audience is listening (or at least that’s what we think they are doing anyway).

But in this stain age, it is not enough. The buyers are more savvy than before. They need more information to trust you, to know you, to understand your services. They want to be able to ask you a question when the moment it arises in their mind. That’s why the web 2.0 emerged as it enables you  publish information to the world wide audience and get your visitors to interact by means of comments, emails, tweets, etc.

Lets’ say you have blog on your website that provides useful information about your products or services to the interested visitors. If you write your blog posts that systematically clears up the objections of your prospects then there is good chance that they will interested in buying. A blog that encourages visitors to leave a comment which can uncover many hidden problems or wants. You can utilize this valuable feedback to create your marketing messages as solutions to those problems.

As long as you are willing to listen, Web 2.0 should open you up for a dialogue. A small business owner should always keep his or her ears on the ground to measure clients’ changing or emerging needs. Your post on the blog, your expert answer to a forum question, your video on YouTube, tweet on the twitter account could easily encourage discussion among your current or prospective customers.

I know it sounds like a lot of effort but remember you can only provide an effective solution if you truly understand the problem. If you don’t then all you are doing is treating symptoms instead of cause.

Internet marketing has stacked numbers in your favour.

by Amarjit Kapur on January 7, 2010

Most small businesses have felt some effects of the dwindling economy: rising prices, lack of bank finance, government antics, clients holding on to their money. There are some  people including so called Business experts who think 2010 is probably going to be as bad if not worse than 2009.  Amazingly! The fear mongering is still going on.

To be honest, I am sick and tired of these fabricated negative vibes. Not that I am pretending that the above issues and problems are not there but to say that it is a major factor in businesses’ downfall is absolutely baloney.

For the press it is far easier to sell bad news than good news. I have seen it time and time again that each and every negative news is given the extra mileage in the newspapers because they know it confirms the readers innermost insecurities. I think these journalists and experts are manipulating public opinion.

The truth is that there are people out there who are either buying, are getting ready to buy or researching about your product right now.  Just look at the example below for some keywords for London’s plumbers.

image thumb Internet marketing has stacked numbers in your favour.

There are about 2,000 daily and more than 70,000 monthly searches for London plumbers online. The Google Trends show that this has been consistent demand for this keyword over last year or so. You can see the similar trends in other markets. The next figure shows the buying intent of these searches.

Again, you can see from the highlighted column that most of these searches have high buying intent ranging from 42% to 92% which certainly makes a good read for most businesses.

There is an even bigger truth from the above illustrations and that is that your customers are looking online right now and if you do not have online marketing as part of the marketing mix then you are missing out on a large proportion of the potential buyers.

So, lets just rise above the doom and gloom and focus on getting more clients through the Internet Marketing.
